THE ABOVE AND BEYOND "ORDINARY" PEOPLE
THERAPEUTIC RIDING PROGRAM

Most of our students ride 1 to 2 times a week for 35-40 minute sessions. New students will always have 2 side walkers and a leader assisting them. Parents are always welcome to join us as side walkers. After riding over a period of time and showing a certain amount of proficiency, a rider may progress to having just a leader. Some riders will graduate to horses that are more specialized and learn to ride on their own while others may always need assistance. Above & Beyond "Ordinary" People provides English, Western or Bareback riding.

Our classes consist of seven basic criteria:

1. Learning to care for the horses, safety and proper use of equipment.
2. Mounting techniques, proper behavior around large animals.
3. Riding skills such as guiding the horse through obstacles.
4. Games and competitions to test and reinforce new riding skills.
5. Safe and responsible dismounting procedures.
6. Putting the horse and equipment away correctly at the end of the lesson.
7. Responsibility for thanking volunteers and instructors.
